Students walk in regalia to convo

The Wesleyan College Convocation Series contributes to a strong academic atmosphere for students, faculty, and staff by bringing to the campus outstanding scholars and performers in varied areas and providing opportunities for meaningful community service. In addition to providing enrichment beyond classroom experiences, the Convocations also serve the purpose of providing a time for the entire campus community to meet together. The Convocation Series will support the mission of the college.

Contact Theresa Abercrombie if you have any questions.

Please allow time for data entry: Attendance from sign-in sheets and virtual participant rosters can sometimes take a business day or two to receive from the faculty sponsor, and data must then be entered before showing up in wesportal. Please contact me (Theresa Abercrombie) if you have any questions or see anything missing from your convocation record after attendance.

CONVOCATION POLICY
What’s New?
  • Convocations are now optional for all students. They add greater value and variety to Wesleyan's liberal arts tradition; therefore, we hope students will elect to participate to enhance their education.
  • Students will be rewarded academically with a GPA boost for choosing to attend 6 convocations in the semester along with a chance to win a $100 gift card.
Student Requirements

To earn convocation credit, students must:

1. Be present for the entire event.
2. Behave professionally.
3. Refrain from distracting behavior.
4. Sign or scan in using the student ID. (if virtual, sign in with full name - full name is shown instead of phone number).

Benefits

Attending convocations will broaden your intellectual horizons, but there are some other incentives for participating:

Each fall and spring semester, all students have the opportunity to earn a quarter-credit hour GPA boost (A, 4.00) noted on their transcript as Convocation Attendance. Credit hours earned to do not apply toward graduation, but the A grade is factored into the institutional GPA. View the Convocation Policy in full in the Wesleyanne Student Handbook and on Wesportal for a complete explanation of how Convocation Attendance credit is applied.

Login to Wesportal and check your convocation creditsor (login) on Wesportal, click "Student" (top) and "Convo Attendance" (left). For more information, please review the Wesleyan College Convocation Policy.
