Lean Green and Six Sigma Green training is included in the curriculum for each of Wesleyan's graduate business programs. This is an extremely valued certification in many industries. You will learn how to integrate principles of business, statistics, and engineering to achieve tangible results to help improve the quality of your work environment and processes that fulfill your organization's mission. Students must pass a national exam in order to earn certification. Students are responsible for the $199 exam fee.

BNP 613 Theory of Nonprofit Management (3 hours): The course will provide an Introduction of management and leadership issues in the world of nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit businesses have a unique standing in the world of business where they rely on voluntary exchanges to obtain revenue and resources such as donors, the government, or one group to provide clients or beneficiaries with their services. Understanding who leads, the decision-making process, and other executive functions are vital to nonprofit success.
BNP 614 Fundraising in Nonprofit (3 hours): This course will outline the many different forms of nonprofit fundraising including fundraising models and approaches. A closer look as fundraising ideas and potential barriers that can exist in this sector. Understanding how to make a fundraising plan, working with donors, and keeping the givers giving are all essential to nonprofit fundraising success.
BNP 615 Nonprofit Strategies (3 hours): This course is designed to help individuals understand how to successful create a strategy to achieve nonprofit organizational goals. Ideas outlined here involve how to begin the key elements of writing a strategy such as defining the problem, recognizing the needs and/or benefits of the beneficiaries, designing the operational plan, and measuring the conditions.
BNP 616 Social Entrepreneurship (3 hours): This course is designed to give students the ability to understand an emerging sector of nonprofit where entrepreneurs are trying to enrich the lives of those who are disenfranchised. The course introduces theory and practices of social entrepreneurs to understand the skills for social innovation and certain tools needed for starting a social business.
BNP 617 Nonprofit Volunteer Management (3 hours): This course is intended for students who are interested in the basic understanding of how volunteerism works and the management of volunteers in the nonprofit sector. The course will prepare students to assume roles as leaders in nonprofit to improve their skillset for handling volunteers inside the organization. Elements of critical thinking and decision making will be examined to prepare managers to lead an array of volunteers.
BNP 699 Nonprofit Management Thesis (3 hours): This course is intended for students to create a master’s thesis to demonstrate their culminating assessment of the nonprofit degree coursework. The thesis in an original project designed to create a business plan outlining the creation of a nonprofit organization.
EBA 600: Executive Management Accounting
The course covers generally accepted accounting principles and the content of financial statements. The interpretation and use of accounting information in the many contexts of management decision making are examined. Included are financial planning, performance evaluations, decision making, activity based cost management, relevant costing, business operations, and information systems.
EBA 602: Organizational Behavior in Management
The course examines the various aspects of organizational behavior, allowing the student to gain valuable insights for increasing decision-making options. Methods of objective achievement are explored through an evaluation of students' individual management styles. The course emphasizes relationships, factors influencing behavior in organizations, and the various means used by efficient managers to develop control and leadership within their organizations.
EBA 604: Strategic Marketing
The course will cover issues related to product, distribution, pricing, promotion issues and market planning processes, including development of a marketing plan and interaction among policy makers in the organization. The marketing strategies of different companies will be studied. Cases will be used extensively in the analysis of business marketing decision making.
EBA 608: Managerial Corporate Finance
The student will develop the ability to analyze operational and strategic financial decision-making within the corporate structure, including financing and investment strategies as they relate to stockholder value. The course will include the study of cash flow analysis and economic value added derived from financial statements.
EBA 610: Quantitative Methods
This course covers the quantitative methods used for quality management and continuous improvement in the workplace. The student will learn specific methods for reducing waste and decreasing product variability. Computer spreadsheets and financial/statistical software will be used to enhance student’s ability to identify and to solve problems.
EBA 612: Data Analytics
The student will be exposed to the use of computer technology and data analytics to support decision making. The use of business intelligence, business analytics, and data science will drive corporate strategy, performance, and competitiveness. Through the use of case studies and data activities, students will learn how to use data analytics to provide a competitive advantage for a company.
