Frequently Asked Questions
Master of Business Administration Program

What is the transfer credit policy for the MBA program?

Wesleyan College may accept up to 6 credit hours earned from another institution. Acceptance of any transfer credit is at the discretion of the College and not guaranteed. For more information, please reach out to the graduate enrollment team at graduate@wesleyancolllege.edu

Who should I choose as a recommender?

Your recommender can be professional or academic. Current or former supervisors typically offer strong testaments to your skill levels in key areas as well as your general suitability to graduate school. The most important is choosing a person who knows you well, can speak to your accomplishments, and is willing to speak on your behalf. Your recommenders are your choice and can include anyone from a coworker to a professor.

Does Wesleyan have rolling admissions? Is there an advantage in applying early?

Yes. Under our rolling admission policy, students are accepted on a continuous basis. We evaluate applications as they are received. The interview is typically scheduled within 3 weeks of receiving the application and all other required documentation. We set a preferred deadline for each term. Students may apply and be admitted after the deadline, but they are encouraged to apply early to provide ample time for completing all required documentation, receiving any letters of recommendation or transcripts, and shipping any textbooks.

What is the format of the interview? What are you looking for in the interview?

The interviews are scheduled with the Program Director, Dr. Seth Selke, and the graduate enrollment team. The interviews may be via Zoom, phone, or in-person. The purpose of the interview is to learn more about you as a candidate. We want to learn more about why you are interested in pursuing an MBA, your expectations for completing the program, and your previous experience.

Should I take the GMAT/GRE?

GRE scores are not considered during the admission process for the MBA program. GMAT scores are one of several options to show a readiness for the advanced business curriculum. Students who have at least three years of business experience or have majored or minored in business are not required to submit GMAT scores. Students can also take two or more prerequisite courses as assigned by the Program Director if they wish not to take the GMAT. Those who submit GMAT scores to meet the readiness requirement must score at least 500.

What if I have to step out of the program for a term?

We understand that life happens. Students are encouraged to go through the 14-month program without breaks, but we never want your experience at Wesleyan to turn from an educational journey to a burden. If you are already in the program and need to take time, please reach out immediately to the Program Director and your current professors. We will work with you to create a plan for your current and future studies.
