Example Notice:

Dear Wesleyan College Student:

We are happy to inform you that you are receiving a Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) grant administered jointly between Wesleyan College and the U.S. Department of Education (DoE). These funds will not need to be paid back; however, you may receive a 1098 or 1099 for 2021, depending on guidelines from the federal government.

The funds came from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA Act). Following DoE regulations, the Wesleyan College Office of Financial Aid calculated an index for distribution based on Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) and Financial Need determined by the 2020-2021 FAFSA. The index also includes students who did not complete the 2020-2021 FAFSA as outlined by Department of Education guidance on eligibility.

Your grant will be deposited according to the direct deposit information we have on file for you. If you have not provided the College with banking information or if you need to update your current banking information, please submit a Direct Deposit Authorization form via WesPortal (Student Tab, Financial Information).

If your banking information is currently up to date (i.e. you have received electronic payments from Wesleyan since July 1, 2020), it is NOT necessary to update your banking information. Please do not re-submit it.

You will have until March 7 to submit or update your banking information, after which the Business Office will begin disbursing the grant funds. Failure to update your banking information will result in a delay of processing your funds.

We know how disruptive this global health crisis has been to you, and we hope this grant will bring some relief. I hope you and your family are safe and well. If you have further questions, please contact me at dmiller@wesleyancollege.edu.

Sincerely,

Daniel Miller
Director of Financial Aid
