While at Wesleyan, students work closely with faculty in small classroom and laboratory settings in our spacious and modern facilities housed in the Munroe Science Center. Further, they gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art scientific equipment as they pursue their goals and career aspirations.
The prestigious Munroe Scholars Program provides two full-tuition scholarships annually to academically superior first-year applicants for admission with interests in the sciences, mathematics, or dual-degree engineering. Preference is given to students who demonstrate particular promise in scientific inquiry or research. Eligible candidates must be invited to compete at Scholarship Day, possess strong academic credentials, and demonstrate their interest and ability to engage in research. Recipients also are eligible for research stipends of up to $1,000 during their junior and senior years.

Getting your lab work done
State-of-the-art laboratories inside the Munroe Science Center include general, organic, physical, analytical, and instrumentation labs, as well as a variety of biology labs. While teaching laboratories serve as classrooms, a small seminar room and two technologically advanced classrooms also are used for instruction. Among its many specialty science spaces, the 42,000-square-foot facility includes an astronomy observation deck, a greenhouse, a vivarium, and a community-learning center.
