Nursing

THE MAJORITY of Wesleyan's BSN graduates received job offers by the time they took the NCLEX exam.

Our exceptional nursing faculty prepares students to enter the workforce in a variety of healthcare settings. Specific coursework integrated throughout the curriculum prepares graduates for management and leadership roles in the field of nursing. Hallmarks of the Wesleyan program include evidence-based practice as the foundation for nursing interventions and care delivery with a focus on issues that impact nursing, health, and the global community.

Housed in the Munroe Science Center, Wesleyan’s nursing simulation lab is equipped with six human patient simulators; a state-of-the-art control room containing audio and video equipment capable of recording all student simulator experiences; a pediatric intensive care unit; a medication dispensing system; and several other unique features.

Guaranteed Acceptance Program (GAP)

YOUR JOURNEY TO BECOMING A NURSE BEGINS HERE.

Admission to nursing programs is highly competitive at all schools, but only exceptional high school students who are accepted to Wesleyan College can apply to our nursing Guaranteed Acceptance Program. A low student-to-faculty-ratio guarantees Wesleyan nursing students receive individualized attention. GAP students are advised by a faculty member from the Division of Nursing. This gives the student a mentor and helps her navigate the pre-nursing/general education curriculum so that she is on track for entrance to the Division of Nursing for the fall admission cycle.

Wesleyan’s state-of-the-art simulation lab enhances student learning in all areas of the profession. From day one, nursing students are introduced to clinical scenarios involving human patient simulators as a preparation for actual patient encounters. As clinical skills, competence, and classroom knowledge grow, the transition to varied healthcare settings and a nursing specialty begins. GAP application open October 1 - April 1. Apply to the GAP program.

OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

A close and consistent connection between class content and hands-on clinical experience is an integral component of the Wesleyan BSN program. Educational classes, personal skill development, and the provision of community screenings serve to integrate the role of professional nurse with self-awareness and a commitment to lifelong learning. Clinical venues that focus on maintaining wellness in the community, delivering acute care in the hospital setting, and exposure to a variety of specialty nursing experiences create an employable nurse.
