Sport Management

One of the fastest growing career fields in the country.

The highly competitive field of sports management provides sports, fitness, and recreation minded students with business knowledge and exciting opportunities in the world of athletics.

Offered as both a major and a minor, students will gain experience and knowledge in areas of business, accounting, law, facility management, and marketing to create an expansive knowledge base for many careers. As part of our program, students in the sport management field will work with local semi-professional athletic teams, club sports, NCAA institutions, and other relevant fields to create a one-of-a-kind professional development opportunity to solidify their area of expertise and interest. The curriculum is designed to give students a broad understanding of all aspects of sport management and prepare them for careers in athletic administration, coaching, physical therapy, athletic training, and health and wellness.

Outside The Classroom

Growing in the sport management major requires distinct professional experiences in various aspects of sport, health, and wellness. At Wesleyan College faculty members rely on personal experiences in the professional, collegiate, club, recreation, and health and wellness aspects of this trending major to provide detailed and customized professional development opportunities. With comprehensive knowledge faculty will work to tailor each student’s experience and match them with the best possible study abroad, internship, and intendent study options for students who plan to enter any aspect of sports administration—from athletic training and physical therapy, to personal training, fitness center management, sport administration, coaching and beyond. Students may opt to gain experience in game day administration, collegiate athletic operations, athletic training, equine management, facility and event planning and marketing, and fitness center management. Pairing our major and minor with several other areas of study will personalize a Wesleyan’s students liberal arts experience to provide a well-rounded background in sport management and prepare students for advanced degrees and professional experiences.
