Letter from Vice President of Student Affairs

Dear all,

On behalf of Wesleyan’s Student Affairs Division, I would like to welcome you to our website. As you read through our website, you will learn about the many opportunities that await you as part of our community. Activities are provided for students’ social, emotional, career, academic, spiritual, and physical development. Wonderful facilities are provided on campus for student programs and activities associated with the co-curricular environment. They include beautifully remodeled residence halls, a new student center, and wonderful athletic, fitness, and equestrian facilities.

In addition, many opportunities are available for sports-minded students as well, including an active intramural program and an NCAA Division III athletic program. Wesleyan is, of course, known for its equestrian center, with its new stables, wonderful riding rings and beautiful rolling, green paddocks. All of this adds to Wesleyan’s picturesque setting within its 200-acre campus.

When it comes to campus leadership, it is important to remember that every student leadership position at Wesleyan is held by a woman. Students truly discover their leadership potential during their years at Wesleyan. The success of our graduates speaks highly to the value of opportunities available for students. Through our Student Government Association and a variety of clubs and groups, students can become actively involved in a rich educational environment both in and outside the classroom.

A professional Student Affairs team has been assembled to assist students in taking advantage of all that Wesleyan has to offer. Please explore our Student Handbook available on our website. It is a helpful resource to learn more about student life. There you will find information on the rich tradition of the Wesleyan Honor System as well as the Class System with its many campus competitions and fun activities.

Each departmental Director under the Student Affairs umbrella has provided a special overview of his or her area. We hope this will assist you with a better understanding of the support services available to you at Wesleyan College. If you would like to learn more about Student Affairs and its offerings, please do not hesitate to contact any of us within the Division. We look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,
Patty Gibbs
Vice President for Student Affairs
