Health Services is located in the Student Affairs building, Huckabee Hall. Health Services is staffed by a family nurse practitioner who provides medical care for common illnesses and minor injuries. A physician is available on campus by appointment. Students with chronic illnesses may be referred to local physicians for management. Health Services provides personal health education, and programs on health related topics.
All new traditional students must provide documentation of a PPD (TB test) done within six months of entrance date, record of current immunizations, and proof of insurance as stated in the entrance requirements. Students are not allowed to move on campus without these documentations. Returning traditional students are required to provide proof of health insurance each year.
Students who have a PPO or HMO health insurance plan should confirm that coverage extends to the Macon area. Physician appointments are scheduled as needed. Assistance may be provided when off-campus referrals are needed for diagnostic tests or treatment beyond the scope of Health Services. In non-emergency situations, cost and transportation for services offered off-campus will be the student's responsibility. Students should verify that the provider is covered under their insurance plan. In an emergency, campus police may transport a student to the nearest emergency facility.
