Located in Huckabee Hall, Health Services is staffed by a family nurse practitioner who provides medical treatment for common, non-life-threatening illnesses, treatment of minor injuries, and physical examinations. The nurse practitioner also provides personal health education and co-ordinates programs on health related topics. A physician is available on campus by appointment. There is no charge for Health Services visits for full-time students. All medical information in Health Services is confidential.
All new students are required to complete college medical requirements including immunizations, tuberculosis test, and a physical examination. Health insurance with coverage in Macon is required for all students to cover off-campus medical care. Students with chronic illnesses may be referred to local physicians for management. Off-campus referrals may be needed for diagnostic tests or treatment beyond the scope of Health Services.
There are several medical facilities close to campus that provide treatment when Health Services is closed. Navicent Health Urgent Care, located 925 Zebulon Road, is available for urgent medical care. Coliseum Northside Hospital Emergency Room, located at 400 Charter Boulevard is available for emergency treatment.
