It is an exciting time to be in the sciences at Wesleyan. We are graduating record numbers of majors and are sending more and more of these graduates off to medical, dental, veterinary, and graduate programs at top universities. We have almost doubled the diversity of upper-level courses offered over the past ten years, and our graduates' ETS test scores now place us among the best programs in the country. We have added new interdisciplinary neuroscience, physics, mathematics, and environmental studies programs to expanded programs in biology, chemistry, and psychology. Students in all of these programs are engaging in student faculty research projects, culminating in honors theses, presentations at regional and national scientific meetings, and/or authorship on professional publications.
Although construction was completed on the Munroe Science Center in 2007, several prominent naming opportunities exist in this state-of-the-art facility. Immediately following the completion of the Munroe Science Center, we followed with a major renovation to Taylor Hall, our old science facility. The newly renovated Taylor Hall opened January of 2011 and now houses our growing departments of education, business, and psychology.
Wesleyan College will recognize donors at certain giving levels by naming individual teaching laboratories, research laboratories, or other spaces within the new science facility or the newly renovated Taylor Hall. Many opportunities, ranging from $15,000 to $1 million, are available for a donor to name a specific space or fund for a family member, friend, professor, or business.
Examples of Naming Opportunities in Munroe Science Center include Classrooms ($150,000), Teaching Laboratories ($300,000), Student/Faculty Research Laboratories ($75,000 to $150,000), Instructional and Research Support Spaces ($25,000). Examples of naming opportunities in Taylor Hall include Psychology Wing ($1 million), Classrooms ($75,000 to $100,000), Teaching Laboratories ($75,000 to $125,000), Faculty Offices ($15,000).
