Leadership Giving

Leadership gifts to the Annual Fund allow us to make the life-changing Wesleyan experience affordable for our students. Without the contributions of those in our three most popular leadership giving societies – The President's Circle, Catherine Brewer Benson Society and George Foster Pierce Leadership Society, we could not fulfill our educational mission to be “forever first for women’s education—striving for excellence, grounded in faith, and engaged in service to the world.”

The President's Circle
The President’s Circle is comprised of extremely generous alumnae, friends, foundations, and corporations that make gifts to the College of $10,000 or more during the fiscal year. These gracious donors are the foundation for Wesleyan’s growth and prosperity. Each year the President’s Circle increases in membership due to the commitment and dedication of this distinguished group of contributors. Please consider joining this prestigious group of donors. George Foster Pierce Leadership Society

Please support Wesleyan today by becoming a member of the George Foster Pierce Society with a minimum gift of $5,000 to the Annual Fund before fiscal year end, June 30th. Wesleyan has grown exponentially in size and impact from its early days with 90 female students and Reverend George Foster Pierce as its first President. With this history of leadership, achievement and growth as its inspiration, the Pierce Leadership Society seeks an initial cadre of 90 generous donors to provide funding for Wesleyan’s ever-increasing and diverse annual funding needs so that the College can continue to enhance its programs and expand its impact in important ways.

Established in fiscal year 2006, the Pierce Leadership Society is already a significant team of supporters – contributing 59% of all gifts to last year’s Annual Fund. Through their generous support, Pierce members promote progress in all aspects of the Wesleyan experience as they provide substantial funding for our day-to-day operations and flexible resources to meet greatest needs.

Catherine Brewer Benson Society

This Leadership Giving Society honors Wesleyan's first graduate, Catherine Brewer Benson, who challenged her contemporaries in 1859 to "accept the responsibilities of alumnaehood and pledge to contribute to the strength and prosperity of Wesleyan College." The challenge made history on our campus and, as the Benson Charge, has become a meaningful annual candle-lighting ceremony that continues to inspire members of each year's graduating class.

For membership in this Society, a minimum gift of $1,000 must be made to the College during the fiscal year.

Join the Pierce Leadership Society or the Catherine Brewer Benson Society by making this important commitment to Wesleyan. For more information, please contact the Office of Annual Giving at (478) 757-5170.
