The majority of our graduates secure professional career opportunites in their fields of study prior to commencement because they plan for a bright future early. Take advantage of internships, part-time work, and summer opportunites before beginning your senior year search for gainful employment.
Wesleyan's Office of Career and Internship Services encourages career exploration and preparation as an ongoing process that can be individualized for each student’s needs and interests. The Director of Career and Internship Services provides career development seminars, individual career and graduate school advising, assessments, and on-line employment listings for students and alumnae.
Wesleyan's Office of Career and Internship Services offers support and direction through the following opportunities for career development:
- One-on-one confidential and cost-free career counseling services, including personality and career assessment instruments.
- Career exploration sessions to assist in choosing a major, securing an internship and pursuing a career.
- Group and individual instructions on resume and cover letter writing.
- Interview skills training.
- Career and internship fairs. Opportunities to attend career fairs are provided several times each year. Employer representatives from across the region visit Wesleyan to find future professionals in a wide variety of career fields.
- Access to part-time jobs, internships, graduate schools and careers posted in Wesleyan's online intranet folders.
- Students are able to post their resumes to a national website providing maximum visibility and a wealth of resources to contact prospective employees.
- Up-to-date career-related books, magazines, and directories housed in Wesleyan's career library. The career library maintained by the Office of Career and Internship Services contains information about majors and career planning, specific occupations or occupational categories, current trends, employment opportunities, and graduate schools. Students benefit from the "What Can I Do With This Major?" intranet resource which provides important information on all majors and minors offered at Wesleyan College.
- On-campus career development large and small group seminars focused on career networking, dressing for interviews, internship processes, resume writing, graduate school admissions, interviewing skills, etc... scheduled several times each semester.
