Land a Great Internship
Outcomes

With a little help, Wesleyan students often land great internships. You'll find Wesleyan student-interns and grads all over - including such places as NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and First Union Bank. And they seem to have no trouble getting accepted into top graduate, law, and medical schools like Stanford, Yale, Emory, and Vanderbilt -- just to name a few.

An important component of a Wesleyan education is the real world experience of an internship. Because of this, we actively encourage all of our students to have at least one internship experience before graduation rolls around.

Through the Wesleyan-Rotary Internship Program, the State of Georgia's Governor's Intern Program, Congressional Intern Programs, and other programs approved by the Director of Career and Internship Services, students are able to relate theory to actual practice and gain valuable work experience while continuing their academic program.

Our successful alumnae tend to come back often and take active roles on the campus and in the community. They are another excellent network for current students seeking internship opportunities. And yes, they still remember all the cheers. After all, once a Wesleyanne, always a Wesleyanne.

With a little “networking help,” Wesleyan students have landed internships at:

Students earn course credit for internship experience. Two levels of practical experience are available. Field Study 199 serves as an introduction to special areas in a career in which a student is interested. Field Study 452 is a more detailed program through which students with substantial relevant coursework obtain knowledge of a career and the opportunity to develop specific competencies necessary for entry-level employment in that field. Field studies are evaluated on a Credit/No Credit basis.

Field study opportunities include local internships, as well as more extensive experience offered by government, business, and not-for-profit entities across the United States and abroad. Applications for field studies may be obtained from the Director of Career and Internship Services. All internships must be approved by the student's faculty advisor and department chair as well as the internship director.
