Meet the Wonderful Women of Wesleyan
Content Manager

The first college in the world to open its doors to women is still opening their minds.

Chartered in 1836, Wesleyan was the first college in the world to grant degrees to women. Every year since then, Wesleyan women have been making history. We take our role as a pioneer in women’s education seriously. Today, Wesleyan is regarded as one of the nation’s finest liberal arts colleges. No one has more experience educating women to do the impossible, the amazing, and the extraordinary in the fields of science, business, fine art, and education.

Today’s Wesleyan women have big plans for the future. They come here to study everything from engineering to early childhood education to environmental science. Once here, they refuse to limit themselves. Instead of choosing just one major, most choose double – or even triple – majors. Whether you’re witty, wacky, wise, or warm-hearted, Wesleyan will teach you about character, conscience, and the unlimited creativity you have to transform the world. That’s everything you need to make your own history!

We may be Southern by location, but our 700-plus students come to our 200-acre campus from all over the world. With a student population representing twenty-four countries, Wesleyan is nationally recognized for its unique international population and high level of student diversity.

And who better to tell the story of the world’s first college for women than its students? Wesleyan women aren’t accustomed to holding anything back. They’ve been speaking up and speaking out since Wesleyan opened its doors in 1836. Here, in their own words, is Wesleyan:

“There are no boundaries here. No limitations. Everyone is encouraged to pursue whatever it is she wants to explore. You feel like you can try anything, do anything---achieve anything.”

Meet the Wesleyan Women listed in this section like the Wise Erin Rooney from New Orleans; the Well-read Mayowa Aktintobi from Nigeria; the Worldly Julianana Cabrales from Colombia, South America; the Witty Anna Cornelius, and the Wacky Mary-Charlotte Young from Jesup, Georgia.

Of course, the very best way to meet and talk to the women of Wesleyan, is to schedule a campus visit. You can do that right now online!
