Community service should be a way of life, not just something to put on your resume. It should be an everyday thing. It’s a small way to make a difference in the world and it gives you such a good feeling. There are a lot of opportunities to do that at Wesleyan.
I've tutored Hispanic adults and worked with a literacy program. When I was involved with Habitat for Humanity, I even climbed up a ladder and used a hammer and nails. That's something I've never done before; it looked dangerous--and I just never saw myself as that "type." But it was great! We all worked together to make something happen.
