When I came to Wesleyan for pioneer weekend, I can’t describe to you how wonderful it was. I felt completely at home and knew that I belonged here. Competition is just not a factor at Wesleyan. We all encourage each other and we all learn from each other.
In high school I was a bit shy, partially because I had a speech impediment. I've done a lot of public speaking since then – including talking to prospective students – and it's really helped. One thing's for sure, Wesleyan students learn to speak publicly, and they learn to have eye contact.
Wesleyan gave me self-confidence. I used to be the first one to panic when things went wrong, but not anymore. Now, I handle challenges. I know I can work through problems.
