Wesleyan names former LPGA winner as Athletics Director
Nanci Bowen, retired Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour player, has been named the Wesleyan College Director of Athletics. With a successful competition career under her belt, Bowen is excited to focus her energy and leadership on raising the caliber of Wesleyan’s athletic program.

Wesleyan Students compete in Harvard Model UN Conference
The Wesleyan College Model United Nations (WCMUN) team represented the nations of Namibia and Sierra Leone at the prestigious Harvard National Model United Nations conference held in Boston, Massachusetts February 14-17, 2008.

Mosaic Marketing Consultants prove successful at regional conference
Competing against sixteen other colleges and universities, the Wesleyan College chapter of the professional business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi placed second in a Regional Case Competition in Atlanta, Georgia during Success Institute weekend in February of 2008.

Wesleyan President Commits to ‘Climate Neutral’ Campus
Ruth Knox Joins Growing List of Higher Education Leaders to Fight Global Warming. Wesleyan committed to sharply reducing and eventually eliminating all of the College’s global warming emissions, and accelerating the research and educational efforts to equip society to re-stabilize the earth’s climate. The pledge came with Knox’s signing of the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment, joining the leaders of 400 other institutions across the country.

Wesleyan Receives President’s Honor Roll Award for Distinguished Community Service 
Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) named WesleyanCollege to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts and service to disadvantaged youth.

Munroe Science Center dedication honored 3 extraordinary sisters
Wesleyan College dedicated its new state-of-the-art science facility, the Munroe Science Center, on Friday, November 2, 2007. The ceremony honored three extraordinary alumnae for the incredible gifts they and their families have shared with Wesleyan College over the past 75 years. Surgeon, oncologist, medical educator and civic leader Dr. LaSalle Doheny Leffall, Jr. delivered the ceremony address. Leffall has served as visiting professor at hundreds of medical institutions in the U.S. and abroad. His professional life has been devoted to the study of cancer, especially among African Americans.

Wesleyan joins national initiative to offer improved consumer resources
New U-CAN website offers prospective students an alternative to national US News college ranking information. Wesleyan College supports a national initiative to provide comprehensive public information to help prospective students judge the quality of higher education institutions. Currently, no single objective consumer resource exists to help prospective students choose a college or university that best fits their needs. Participation in a new web-based project called U-CAN is one step toward the commitment to offer consumers improved resources.

Wesleyan College announces New Academic Dean
Dr. Vivia Fowler joined the administration of Wesleyan College as the next Dean and Vice President for Academic Affairs in July of 2007. She relocated to Macon from Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina, a sister women's college that also is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

Wesleyan selected by Princeton Review as one of "America's Best Value Colleges"
  Wesleyan is one of the nation's best value undergraduate institutions according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features the school in the new 2008 edition of its book, America's Best Value Colleges, released April 24, 2007. The guide profiles select colleges chosen for their excellent academics, generous financial aid packages and/or relatively low costs of attendance. In its narrative profile on Wesleyan College in the book, The Princeton Review's editors commend our school for its "tight-knit community” and state, “it’s a serous place for women who are serious about broadening their horizons.”

New Study Finds Women's Colleges Better Equipped to Help Students
The Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research suggests that students at women's colleges are better served in their educational pursuits than their peers at coeducational institutions. In addition, educational gains made by students at women's colleges counter claims that women lag behind their male counterparts in subjects like math, science, and engineering.   

Wesleyan students corroborate national study findings
Wesleyan College is not surprised by recent information released from the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research (IUCPR). One student claims, “The fact that Wesleyan is a women's college kept me focused and motivated to achieve only the best.”

Wesleyan College outperforms Top 10% on national NSSE study
According to the seventh annual report of the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Wesleyan College outperformed the Top 10% of colleges and universities nationally in all five categories studied: active and collaborative learning, enriching educational experiences, level of academic challenge, student-faculty interaction, and supportive campus environment.

Global Partnerships: Wesleyan officials expand a simple foreign exchange program  When Wesleyan College and Ulyanovsk State University’s Student Exchange Program began in 1999, few realized the program had the potential to become a model of excellence for ambassadorship and global community leadership. But unexpectedly, the participants of the program became completely inspired by the cultural exchange of ideas. As a result, a simple foreign exchange program has grown into a network of international relationships. Those involved claim the momentum has only just begun.

Wesleyan named a “College of Distinction”
Wesleyan College has been named a “college of distinction” by Student Horizons, Inc. and will be one of 300 colleges highlighted in a guidebook published later this year. Through its publication and website, the organization profiles teaching-centered colleges and universities throughout the United States that consistently excel at engaging students, fostering vibrant campus communities, and producing successful graduates.

Wesleyan College Ranks High with Washington Monthly
Wesleyan College ranks as one of the nation’s Top 100 liberal arts colleges in the third annual Washington Monthly College Rankings. The guide highlights national institutions known for academic excellence and ranks the institutions based on indicators of ability to produce future leaders. The aim of the publication is to rank and promote colleges “which are good for the country.”

Wesleyan College offers students an outstanding undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review.  The New York-based education services company features the college in the new 2008 edition of its annual book, "The Best 366 Colleges."

First Female Bishop inspires Wesleyan graduates at 2007 Commencement
Wesleyan College’s 95 graduating seniors anxiously awaited the call to action and inspiration of Charlene Payne Kammerer, the first woman to be ordained Bishop of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. The Wesleyan alumna (class of 1970) returned to her alma mater as the 2007 commencement speaker.

Wesleyan President Honored for Service
Wesleyan College President Ruth Austin Knox recently received The University of Georgia School of Law alumni association’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Scroll Award. The award is given annually to individuals whose dedication and service to the legal profession and the law school deserves special recognition.

Wesleyan College Breaks Ground on $12.5 Million Science Center
Wesleyan College broke ground on its $12.5 million Munroe Science Center Friday, March 3, 2006 at 11am. The groundbreaking of this highly anticipated center marks the beginning of construction for Wesleyan's first academic building in more than 40 years.

Wesleyan College dedicated its Lane Center for Community Engagement & Service to an exemplary local family during a ceremony  honoring William and Eleanor Lane, '58, and the memory of Linda Lane.   
 
Rosalynn Carter visits Macon
Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter met with Wesleyan College Professor Dr. Catherine Meeks during a site tour of the community outreach program, Aunt Maggie's Kitchen Table, located in the Anthony Homes public housing development.
