DIRECTOR OF NURSING PROGRAM
Wesleyan College, a selective liberal arts college for women, seeks a director for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to be fully implemented in the fall 2013 pending approval by the Georgia Board of Nursing and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools/Commission on Colleges. The program will emphasize holistic nursing and women's health. This tenure-track position will begin in August 2011 or as soon as feasible for the applicant and will report to the Chairperson of the Professional Studies Division. The candidate should be a nursing leader with administrative experience who exhibits innovative and creative strategies to develop this new program. The candidate will be responsible for the administration, operations and development of the nursing program. The candidate will provide leadership to faculty and assume responsibility for the evaluation of the nursing program as required by the Board of Nursing and other accrediting agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide creative leadership for the nursing program to motivate and support the development of the faculty as teachers and expert professionals.
- Direct the implementation of an evidence-based curriculum, state of the art instruction (including the integration of simulation and other enhanced learning technologies and assessment methodologies).
- Establish and coordinate strategic planning for the nursing program within the framework of the overall strategic plan of the campus and program.
- Support and mentor faculty in the development of effective, efficient teaching strategies and establish a professional development program for faculty and staff.
- Provide ongoing evaluation of faculty and staff within established guidelines; maintain a system for assuring current credentials for nursing faculty.
- Ensure leadership in maintaining current student policies; provide guidance in evaluating and updating documents, coordinate and maintain students’ programmatic records.
- Establish and coordinate communication with local clinical settings, and facilitate regular meetings of Wesleyan’s Nursing Advisory Board.
- Participate in professional development activities, including national and regional professional organizations.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in nursing or related field required
- Minimum 5 years nursing academic and administrative experience as a Chair or other administrative

VISITING INSTRUCTOR OF ECONOMICS

The Wesleyan College Department of Modern Languages announces an opening for a tenure-track assistant professor beginning August 2012. Ph. D. in Spanish, French, or Romance Languages required. Preference will be given to candidates with sufficient graduate work to teach both French and Spanish, but candidates who can teach only French will be considered. Experience in teaching French for business is desired. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MATHEMATICS
Wesleyan College invites applications for a full time, tenure track assistant professorship in mathematics, with teaching duties starting August, 2012. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in mathematics, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to undergraduate instruction and research. Candidates in all areas of mathematics are invited to apply, but some extra consideration will be given to candidates with significant backgrounds in applied mathematics. The successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in promoting and guiding student research. ADJUNCT BIOLOGY INSTRUCTOR
Wesleyan College seeks an Adjunct Biology Instructor for the Spring or Summer of 2012; Ph.D. in Biology preferred, MS in Biology required. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of biology teaching experience at the undergraduate level; candidates with at least four years of high school biology teaching experience are also encouraged to apply. This adjunct will be responsible for teaching a four credit hour non-science major evening course designed to introduce undergraduate students to the study of living systems, with a special emphasis on human biology. Both lecture and laboratory exercises for this course will be held in the Munroe Science Center, a $12 million state-of-the-art teaching and research facility. Candidates must have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching of diverse learners and must be proficient with common laboratory instrumentation; facility with Microsoft applications including PowerPoint, Word and Excel is also required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate early childhood core education courses, graduate courses (research and methods), as well as content courses, preferably science and/or mathematics methods courses. CAMPUS POLICE OFFICER
Job Description: Police Officers are required to protect the lives and properties of the Wesleyan College Community. Officers are required to respond professionally to the need for detection and prevention of crimes. Officers must be prepared to maintain law and order. Officers are required to patrol the entire campus property by vehicle, and some by foot. Officers duties also include traffic enforcement, accident reporting, and criminal investigations. Officers are expected to secure physical structures on the campus, and maintain daily log entries of activities. Officers will provide security at social and athletic events, conduct safety inspections, control and direct traffic, enforce college rules and regulations, issue parking citations, and enforce the law governing the state and other duties as defined by supervisors.
Job Qualifications: Candidates must be twenty-one years of age, and have a valid driver’s license. All applicants must be certified through the Georgia Peace Officers Standard and Training Council. HEAD SOFTBALL COACH
Job Description: Responsible for coaching, recruiting and managing the NCAA, Division III, softball program, and serve as the assistant basketball coach. Provides support to the athletic program for game day operations, coordination of athletic facility rentals/usage, and services as the coordinator of the student-athlete experience (NCAA initiative).
