The Community Horsemanship Program at Wesleyan College provides area residents with lessons in the care of horses and ponies, riding, and mounted sports including gymkhana. Offering quality instruction in hunt seat riding (based on the modern forward seat) and in western horsemanship, students can ride and compete without the expense of owning their own horses. Welcoming riders of all skill levels, we help students develop responsibility, sportsmanship, moral judgment, leadership, and self-confidence.
The age levels of Wesleyan's Community Horsemanship Program students vary widely – from adults to children as young as eight years old. The program is based upon the guidelines of the United States Pony Club and the Affiliated National Riding Commissions.
Program lesson fees:
- Private lesson (one-half hour) $30
- Private lesson for 2 or more family members (one-half hours) $25
- Group Lesson with 3-6 people (one-hour) $30
