Pioneers Cross Country Earns Fifth Place at GSAC Championships
Macon, GA (Nov. 5, 2007) – The Wesleyan College Cross Country Team placed fifth overall in the GSAC championships held at Piedmont College over the weekend.
First-year runner Belle Thomas continuing her string of strong finishes placed fourth overall.
Also scoring for the team were Cecelia Batt, Shelly Schultz, Dana Amihere and Crystal Church.
The Pioneers finished with an average time of 34:06, placing them fifth overall while Agnes Scott placed first.
Wesleyan’s Thomas Places First at Maryville Invitational
Macon, GA (Oct. 31, 2007) -- The Wesleyan Cross Country team traveled to Tennessee October 27 to compete in the Maryville Homecoming Invitational. The Pioneers placed fourth out of five GSAC opponents.
Wesleyan first-year runner Belle Thomas finished first overall among GSAC participants. Also scoring for the team were Dana Amihere, Cecelia Batt, Crystal Church and Shelly Schultz.
The team will travel to Dillard, Ga. Sat. Nov. 3 to compete in the GSAC Cross Country Championships.
Pioneers Cross Country Runs into Fourth Place
in Conference at Georgia State Invitational
Macon, GA (Sept. 15, 2007) – The Wesleyan College cross country team competed at the Georgia State University Invitational Saturday and placed fourth in conference. Pacing the team’s efforts was sophomore Cecilia Batt who placed sixth overall against conference opponents.
The Pioneers' team average improved from 30:26 (Atlanta Invitational) to 28:29 overall. Each member of the Pioneers squad also showed improvements in overall times over last weeks meet.
The Pioneers will travel to Atlanta on Saturday September 22, 2007 to compete in the Oglethorpe Invitational.
Pioneers' Cross Country Places Third in Conference at Atlanta Invitational
Macon, GA (Sept. 11, 2007) – The Wesleyan College Cross Country team competed at the Atlanta Invitational Saturday for its first regular season meet. The team placed third overall in conference behind first place finisher Agnes Scott College.
Sophomore runner Cecilia Batt paced the Pioneers finishing fifth overall against conference opponents. Senior teammate Shelley Shultz finished second on the team. The Atlanta Invitational, a highly competitive meet, included schools from division I-III.
The Pioneers will travel to Panthersville, Ga. on Saturday, September 15 to compete in the Georgia State Invitational.
