Pioneers Cross Country Earns Fifth Place at GSAC Championships
Thomas Earns All-Conference Honors
Macon, GA (Nov. 2, 2008) – The Wesleyan College Cross Country Team raced to a fifth place finish at the Great South Athletic Conference Championships Saturday morning at Maryville College. Maryville finished in first place overall. GSAC awards were also announced Saturday with Pioneer sophomore Belle Thomas earning All-Conference honors.
Thomas led the Pioneers charge, crossing the finish line fifth overall (27:43). Juniors Cecelia Batt, 14th (29:53), Denise Ramey, 20th (30:47), Dana Amihere, 40th (38:53), followed by freshman Jessica Ruiz, 43rd (40:56) round out the Pioneers team. Huntingdon freshman Caitlin McMahon finished first overall (26:31). McMahon was named Female Runner of the Year, All-Freshmen Team and All-Conference. Finishing second place behind Maryville was Huntingdon, followed by Spelman, Agnes Scott, Wesleyan, Piedmont and LaGrange.
Pioneers Cross Country Place Fifth at LaGrange Invitational
Macon, GA (Sept. 22, 2008) – The Wesleyan College Cross County Team competed at the LaGrange College Invitational Saturday earning a fifth place finish. Sophomore Belle Thomas finished the 6k run in third place overall (26:34:00). Junior Cecelia Batt finished in sixth place (27:58:60).
Pioneers Cross Country Places Second at The Rock Ranch Invitational
Macon, GA (Sept. 7, 2008) – The Wesleyan College Cross Country competed at The Rock Ranch 5 K Invitational Saturday for its second regular season meet. The team placed second overall behind first place finisher Clark Atlanta University. Sophomore Belle Thomas paced the Pioneers finishing fourth overall (23:36:37), while junior teammate Cecelia Batt finished fifth (23:44:06). The Rock Ranch Invitational included schools from Andrew College, Clark Atlanta, Gordon College and LaGrange College.
