Jason Henry, Associate Athletics Director
Head Basketball Coach
Wesleyan's Associate Athletics Director Jason Henry is entering his third year as the head coach of Wesleyan's varsity basketball program. Making the move to Wesleyan in July 2007, Coach Henry relocated to Macon from Piedmont College were he served primarily as the Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Henry played two years of college basketball before he was sidelined with injuries. He began his coaching career at Carl Albert State College in Poteau, Oklahome, under Coach Nick Durant while earning his associate’s degree in Health in 1998. He later transferred to Southeastern Oklahoma State where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Recreation in May of 2001.
Coach Henry then attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he earned his master’s degree in Secondary Education in May of 2003. During his tenure at SOSU, Henry served as head graduate assistant athletic trainer and student coach for both the men’s and women’s basketball programs. In February of 2004, he earned his NATA certification and became a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).
While at Wesleyan, Coach Henry has worked extremely hard to return the basketball program to its strength of the late 1990s. During the 2008-2009 season, the Pioneers five wins under the direction of Henry amounted to more wins for the program than in the previous four seasons combined.
Coach Henry is originally from Heavener, Oklahoma. He currently resides in Macon, Georgia, with his wife Haley and their two dogs, Riley and Dexter.
