Wesleyan Women in Business
Content Manager
Perhaps the fields of science and education share a common denominator of service to others, but one might expect students studying economics and business to focus solely on the bottom line. According to recent graduate Lindsay Rosenquist ’06, “There are more leadership opportunities on a smaller campus, which helps prepare you for something more purposeful — community leadership instills a greater sense of responsibility.”

Originally from Santa Ana, California, Lindsay graduated summa cum laude with a major in international relations and minors in business and economics. As an honors program graduate, she presented a thesis entitled “Why the States Should Join the International Criminal Court,” exemplifying how she intends to influence change nationally by looking internationally.  Read her story!

Today's Wesleyan graduates gain inspiration from the countless success stories of Wesleyannes who have shattered glass ceilings and set high benchmarks for generations. After graduating from Wesleyan in 1964, Carol "Moon" Burt earned a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Georgia in 1969. She was the first woman to be promoted to senior accountant on the audit staff at a major Atlanta accounting firm where she worked as a CPA. Then she became the first woman controller at Fulton Federal Savings, Atlanta. A talented businesswoman, Carol managed family businesses, and owned three restaurants. Gregory’s in Atlanta received many “Best of Atlanta” awards and was selected as one of the nation’s finest restaurants by Esquire. Read her story!


Anna Lisette Deckert '05

Currently pursuing her master's degree in Madrid, Spain

When Anna arrived at graduate school in Spain, she was intimidated by the fact that she was one of the youngest people in the program. Was she too young? Could she compete with classmates? Would she be prepared? Anna says that thanks to Wesleyan, she was more than ready.  Read her story!

Currently pursuing her master's in London

Lois arrived on the Wesleyan campus with a clear career goal – to become a diplomat or work in the foreign ministry. With a double-major in economics and international relations and a French minor, she is well-equipped to achieve her goal. This summa cum laude graduate was accepted into master’s programs in public policy at the world’s most prestigious universities in her field: London School of Economics and Carnegie Mellon. She is now a graduate student at the London School of Economics studying public policy management. From there, she will pursue work in either the public or private sectors in her chosen field. Donaley Dorsett says she has carried the lessons she learned at Wesleyan into her career and her personal life.  "The education that I received at Wesleyan has been a tremendous asset to me, professionally, of course, but personally as well," says Dorsett, a native of Dominica, West Indies, who moved to Miami, Florida, as a nine-year-old. "I made several life-long friends during my years at Wesleyan, and I consider these friends to be the most valuable asset that Wesleyan gave me." Read her story!

Betty Lo ’95

She started out as a music major with a concentration in piano and voice, later switched to art history before "Dr. (Glenna) Dod and I put our heads together," says Lo, referring to Wesleyan’s D. Abbott Turner Professor of Free Enterprise. "She helped me create my major in international business. Actually, that was the basis of the international business degree Wesleyan offers today." Morgan Faircloth '07

Although she's just a Golden Heart from a small town in Georgia, Morgan has big plans for the future. This summa cum laude graduate majored in business administration with a concentration in accounting and minored in economics. Upon graduation, she accepted a staff auditor position for the State of Georgia Department of Audits. Read her story!
