When to submit your application depends on a couple of things.  But generally, we say, "Why not submit it now?"  Applying to Wesleyan is the easiest part.  You can do that online.

Early Decision Applicants
If Wesleyan is your clear first choice, you’ll want to apply under Early Decision Round I or II. Early Decision Round I applications (and all supporting documents) must be received by November 15. You’ll hear from us by December 15; if admitted, you’ll be required to withdraw applications from all other schools, and pay your enrollment and housing deposit by January 7.

Early Decision Round II applications and supporting documents must be received by January 15. You’ll hear by February 15, and will have to pay your enrollment and housing deposit by March 7 (and, of course, withdraw applications from all other schools). If you do intend to apply Early Decision, you’ll have to file an ED Contract. (You’ll see that document as part of the application.)

Regular Decision Applicants
Even if you’re not applying Early Decision, it’s still a good idea to get your application in as early as possible. Priority consideration for admission and scholarship will be given to those students who apply by January 15. After January 15, admission and scholarship offers are contingent upon space and funding availability.

All Applicants 

Although not officially “required,” we encourage every applicant to submit the Teacher Recommendation and to have a personal interview with a member of our Admission staff. You might also want to submit a sample of your creative work (poetry, photography, art, music, research, etc.). Just remember: We can’t return materials, so send only copies, slides, cassette tapes or photographs.

Waiting List

Sadly, we can’t admit every qualified student. Some students may be placed on a waiting list. We usually make first-round waiting list decisions mid-May, with deposits due two weeks after notification. Final wait list decisions are made at the end of June.
