Also, Special Accounting News:
There are many other accounting related organizations you’ll learn about as you pursue your concentration in accounting at Wesleyan College. Additionally, you’ll be able to pursue an internship with an accounting firm or company accounting department, and attend accounting professional meetings in Macon or nearby Atlanta with other accounting students.

For instance, in November 2006 accounting students were accompanied by Dr. Kel-Ann Eyler, Associate Professor of Accounting to the annual Distinguished Speakers Dinner in Atlanta. Students had the opportunity to hear former Ambassador Andrew Young give an inspiring speech about contributing to our society in positive ways as accountants.

Accounting scholarships are widely available and an honor for students to receive. Recently, we were proud to learn that one of our “star” accounting students, Morgan Faircloth, just received one of two statewide scholarship awards from the Georgia chapter of the American Women’s Society of CPAs.

The accounting concentration at Wesleyan consists of a combination of coursework in accounting, the humanities, and the social sciences. While different certification program requirements vary, the undergraduate degree from Wesleyan will fulfill many of the education requirements to get you started on your way to a successful accounting career. Those students wishing to pursue their CPAs will typically need 150 total semester hours of education, so our accounting students will want to pick up additional accounting courses while at Wesleyan and/or proceed to graduate programs in accounting or taxation.

Want to learn more about the Wesleyan accounting program? Feel free to contact Dr. Kel-Ann S. Eyler, Associate Professor of Accounting at keyler@wesleyancollege.edu .
