The focus of the third Center is education and promoting positive social change through the education of exemplary teachers. This Center for Educational Renewal will continue to create partnerships with local agencies, develop alternative ways for preparing teachers, and promote meaningful study of the problems of today’s educational systems.

One alternative program, Georgia TAPP at Wesleyan, placed dozens of teachers in local elementary schools, mostly Title 1 designated. Another program, Pioneer Teachers Program, allowed an opportunity for the best paraprofessionals from Bibb County to come back to college to complete their degrees at night and on the weekends and then return as full-fledged teachers to the local school system they already know so well. These programs exemplify Wesleyan’s commitment to helping solve the problems our community faces.
